I’m in Love

As soon as my feet touched Omani soil, I knew I was in love.

Our flirtation began in the spring, when I began researching Oman’s history. I saw photos and videos of her beauty and learned of the tolerance and kindness of the Omani people. I began asking some friends from Oman more questions.

Perhaps I began to love her then, but the feeling of reading about her can’t compare to the feeling of love at first sight.

She has shared her wonders with me and welcomed me with open arms. I’ve seen her coast and her interior. I’ve come to know her people and her history.

I’ve felt small against her tremendous mountains and the mighty waves of the Arabian Sea that crash against her shores.

I’ve experienced the hospitality and generosity of her people.

I’ve been overwhelmed by the weakness in my knees and peace in my spirit when I visited the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. I’ve survived a brutal hike and her elements to be rewarded with incredible views.

Each day that I’ve spent here, my heart would has grown so full that I thought it could not hold any more. Each day, it would fill up even more.

I don’t want to leave her.
